Student Branches
One of the major objectives of CAFP is to assist young people seeking careers in the foodservice and hospitality industry. We do this in many ways including sponsoring “Student Branches” at colleges and universities offering courses in foodservice and hospitality management.
CAFP gives out annually, thousands of dollars in bursaries and scholarships to aid these young managers of tomorrow. Individual recognition is given at each Student Branch through our prestigious “Gold Plate” Award, sponsored by ARAMARK. Winners of the Branch Gold Plate Awards then compete for the Canada Gold Plate Award which is presented at the annual CAFP National Conference held in May.
CAFP Professional members also act as counsellors, speakers, and as a source of guidance for the students. The students conduct monthly meetings, plan educational events, fundraise and attend meetings and educational events/tours with the Professional Branches. CAFP also sponsors career days for the students and, wherever possible, assists in employment opportunities, whether summer work or after graduation.
